Lacson-Ferrer tandem in 2022 Negros Occidental polls remains

IT WILL still be Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer for governor and vice governor of Negros Occidental in the 2022 elections.

This comes after Ferrer announced Tuesday, January 5, that he and the United Negros Alliance (UNegA), of which he is chairman, will support the reelection bid of Lacson.

The vice governor made the declaration after rumors came out that a politician from Bacolod City is going around the province to consult local leaders in his bid to contest the province' top post in next year's election.

Ferrer assured that if ever there will be someone who will run against Lacson, it will not come from UNegA.

"I will continue to support the leadership of the governor and will run as his vice governor in 2022," he said.

Asked if political leaders in Negros Occidental will field a common candidate in Bacolod City, Ferrer said the province's capital is not the jurisdiction of the Capitol.

"They have their own separate kingdom as the lone district and we have our own kingdom so we respect that," he said.

Ferrer also said that he is also seeking reelection in the 2022 elections.
