Lawmaker asks DPWH to provide more quarantine facilities in Bacolod

BACOLOD City Representative Greg Gasataya has asked Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar to provide more quarantine facilities in Bacolod City, which has been placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Gasataya said Tuesday, September 15, that he already informed Villar about the situation of Bacolod during their one-on-one virtual meeting on Monday, September 14.

"We need more quarantine facilities because our coronavirus disease (Covid 19) cases continue to rise," he said.

Gasataya noted that Villar assured him that they will help the City Government of Bacolod.

"We are thankful to the national government and to Secretary Villar for helping us in this time of pandemic," Gasataya said.

He said the DPWH has an ongoing construction of quarantine facilities in Bacolod City to accommodate the Covid-19 patients in the city.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia and the DPWH earlier signed a memorandum of agreement for the construction of 109 quarantine facilities in Bacolod.

Renecito Novero, chairman of the city's quarantine center action team, earlier said the quarantine facilities were constructed in the areas of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), Barangay Vista Alegre, and other areas in Bacolod.

The project is expected to be completed this month.

As of September 14, Bacolod City has a total of 2, 634 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 1,042 recovered cases, 1, 557 active cases and 35 deaths.
