Let's avoid putting restrictions, continue to wear masks, Lacson urges Negrenses

NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is again appealing to Negrenses to wear masks, or else an executive order putting restrictions in place to prevent the further increase of Covid-19 cases in the province will be issued.

Negros Occidental remained at Alert Level 2 as far as Covid-19 is concerned, and the province is among the 20 provinces with high cases.

"As much as possible, let's avoid putting restrictions. Use a face mask so that we can protect ourselves; otherwise, if the trend continues to go up, maybe an EO is needed," Lacson said.

"I am asking Negrenses to agree to wear a face mask. The latest is that we have 74 active cases with 11 new cases," Lacson said.

He added, "those who are not vaccinated, limit your travel. Stay home if it's not important. It's a warning that Covid-19 is still around."

At home, we presume that everybody's well. You cannot guarantee that if you go out, especially on public transportation, you are safe from Covid, the governor added.

Although there are still vaccines at the Provincial Health Office, the national government has yet to update if they can send free vaccines to local government units, he said.

Lacson said it would be hard for the LGUs to acquire vaccines from their funds if cases continue to rise.
