LGBT group, OFWs trained on basic massage in San Carlos

The Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community of San Carlos City Inc. and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Association thru the Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Office (CLDO) held a five-day Basic Swedish Massage training from Monday until today, Sept. 15 at Consuelo Community Center Function Hall.

At least 20 members of the LGBT group and OFWs participated in the said training.

Massage Trainers consisting of CLDO Coastal and Non-Agricultural Association Project In-Charge Edith Dano, George Destura, Rishielle Sechico, Rene Laguda and Erwin Mira discussed the purpose of massage, benefits and effects of massage, vital requirements for massage, body warm-up, meditation, five manipulation techniques of Swedish and their variations, do’s and don’ts, endangerment sites of the body, draping management, client positioning, and before and aftercare.

Acting City Treasurer/LGBT President, Ray John Lim said the training aimed at teaching LGBT members in the community to have an additional income within a holistic therapeutic approach to improve the well-being of the client or patient.

Lim added that this was their first training in the livelihood program and was planning to come with another training which is food processing.

City Mayor Renato Gustilo commended the trainers for sharing their knowledge and skills; he hoped the participants would learn Swedish massage well and make good of it.

Participants were also given a massage kit composed of towels, alcohol, and massage oil. (PR)
