LMC to place erring market vendors on blacklist

The Bacolod City Local Market Committee (LMC) will place the market vendors on a blacklist if they fail to settle their arrears with the city government, City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said Friday, October 6.

“The vendors from the three major public markets who failed to settle their arrears with the city will not be allowed to join in any raffles for new stalls in the markets,” Ting said.

He added that there are some vendors who still failed to settle their financial obligations despite their promises that they would pay the city.

“Some of them will just pay their accounts if there’s a raffle of new stalls at Burgos Public Market, Libertad Public Market, and Central Public Market,” he added.

Even if they are excluded from the raffle, the vendors are still required to settle their arrears, Ting said.

Ting said the LMC will soon release the list of vendors who will not be included in the raffle.

“We are only waiting for the list of vendors with arrears from the accounting office, and we will post it in the three big public markets,” he said.

He added that the unpaid accounts of some vendors reached P60,000.

Once they settled their accounts, Ting stressed that the vendors could join in the raffle if there was an available new stall in three major public markets.

He said the LMC already raffled the new stalls inside the Libertad Public Market and Central Public Market and those who fail to get a number will be given a chance to join in the next raffle.*
