Lopez willing to join Grupo Progreso

FORMER Bacolod City councilor Carlos Jose Lopez confirmed Wednesday, September 19, he is still willing to join with the Grupo Progreso for the 2019 elections.

“If I will decide to run again, definitely it would be with the GP because our ties are still intact,” Lopez said.

He said he already talked with Mayor Evelio Leonardia and they are waiting for his final decision.

“I have a reserved slot in GP, but if I cannot make it, my wife (Nayne) is also willing to run for councilor,” he added.

Lopez, a former member of GP, noted that for now, he is busy with his business and he will make a final announcement in due time.

In 2016 elections, Lopez was an independent candidate for congressman.

For her part, Nayne said she will support the plan of her husband.

“Just in case, he (Carl) cannot do it for 2019 elections, I am the second option to run, but still, I’m not yet 100 percent ready on it,” she said.

Leonardia had earlier said that they will make an official declaration on their line-up on the most appropriate time particularly now that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) moved the deadline of the filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC) which will be on October 11 to 17 from October 1 to 5.

“As of now, we have invited people who are not with us before and we welcome them. There are also other village chiefs and councilmen who expressed their desire to join us,” Leonardia said.

Congressman Greg Gasataya had earlier said some members of Magbinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan (MKK) might join the GP for 2019 elections.
