LTFRB to continue satellite office in Bacolod

BACOLOD City Councilor Dindo Ramos said on Wednesday, August 29, that the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Western Visayas will not vacate their satellite office near the Bacolod Arts and Youth Sports (Bays) center.

“It was Mayor Evelio Leonardia who convinced LTFRB-Western Visayas director Richard Osmeña not to leave their satellite office here,” Ramos said.

He said Osmeña agreed that they will stay in the area while they are looking for their permanent satellite office in Bacolod.

The LTFRB had earlier informed the city officials they will close their office on September 1.

“It’s a good development to our transport groups that they will stay here so our drivers can process their documents here and not in Iloilo City,” Ramos said.

The transport groups in Bacolod City had earlier asked the assistance of the city government to convince the LTFRB not to remove their office because it will be an additional burden on their part to process their documents in Iloilo City.

Ramos said that during his meeting with the LTFRB head in Bacolod, it was determined that the LTFRB has funds for the construction of their own satellite building.

He said presently, the LTFRB is occupying the city-owned building and it’s for free including their electricity bill.

Ramos also denied the reports that it was the mayor who ordered the removal of the LTFRB office.

“It was only a miscommunication and the mayor did not make an order that they will vacate the area,” Ramos said. (MAP)
