Man faces parricide raps for tossing child to death

PARRICIDE charges were filed on Wednesday against a man who tossed his four-month-old daughter to death inside their house at Barangay Patag in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Monday.

Superintendent Noel Polines, city police chief, said the case against 40-year-old Marjun Cusay was filed before the Silay City Prosecutor’s Office around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15.

On August 13, the suspect threw her daughter Mary Jane to her mother, 22-year-old Rutchel Marabulas, who failed to catch her. The baby hit a bamboo post and she fell on the floor.

The suspect, who reportedly arrived home drunk, apparently got irritated with his daughter’s cry.

The grandmother of the child pursued the filing of the case and stood as the complainant, Polines said.

Cusay is detained at the Silay City Police Station.
