Marawi natives face drug raps for P1.4-M ‘shabu’

DRUG charges were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday against the two natives of Marawi City for the recovery of P1.4 million worth of drugs in a raid in Bacolod City on Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Leo Estopa, head of Police Station 2, said target subject Faisalin Ibra, 21, was charged for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs while his companion Norhan Caunda, 42, is facing conspiracy in relation to the illegal drug trade.

On August 7, Ibra and Caunda, who are temporarily staying at Barangay 31, were arrested in a buy-bust at Barangay 4.

Ibra allegedly sold methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to a police agent for P2,000 in a transaction that was done inside a Hyundai Accent vehicle.

Police seized from them five more sachets of suspected shabu weighing 120 grams, the P2,000 marked money and the car.

Ibra has been staying in Bacolod for two months while Caunda has been living in the city for two years. Both are newly-identified drug personalities.

Meanwhile, Estopa said they are still checking with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) the owner of the vehicle that was used by the two suspects.
