E.B. MAGALONA Mayor Marvin Malacon questioned the tagging of their town as a political hotspot in the coming May 13, 2019 elections by the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Noppo).
He asked: "Who will declare an area under the political hotspot? The police or the Comelec [Commission on Elections]?"
He believes that politics is behind the tagging without elaborating.
But Malacon assured his constituents that the coming elections will be peaceful in the town.
Meanwhile, Malacon said the bidding of various projects amounting to P200 million is set starting in December.
The projects up for bidding included the purchase of P50 million worth of heavy equipment and the rehabilitation of the town's public market worth P140 million.
Malacon said they will hold the bidding of the said projects following the release of the P200 million loan of the Municipal Government from the Land Bank of the Philippines.
Malacon explained that the loan was already approved in 2017 but the release was delayed after Vice-Mayor Robert Acaling questioned the loan.
