CADIZ City Mayor Salvador Escalante, the secretary general of United Negros Alliance (Unega), said Tuesday, February 2, that they have 13 re-electionist mayors in the 2022 presidential and local elections.

At present, they have 15 mayors but two are already graduating -- Candoni Mayor Ceciro Borromeo and Hinoba-an Mayor Ernesto Estrao.

Escalante named the 13 re-electionist mayors in the following towns and cities: First District-Toboso and Don Salvador Benedicto; Second District - Cadiz City, Sagay City and Manapla; Fourth District - Bago City, La Carlota City, San Enrique and Pulupandan; Fifth District - Binalbagan, La Castellana, Moises Padilla and Himamaylan City.

"That is the current situation after our oath-taking before Governor Bong Lacson," Escalante said.

The new officials of Unega are Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer as president, Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon as chairman, Fourth District Representative Juliet Marie Ferrer as treasurer and Escalante as secretary general.

Escalante also confirmed that Marañon will make a comeback in Congress in 2022 representing the second district.

Unconfirmed reports said that Sagay Vice Mayor Narwin Javelosa will run as mayor, but Representative Leo Rafael Cueva, who is on his last term is also planning to run for mayor, he added.

The said officials are all members and cousins of Unega.
