Mentally-ill man found dead in Bacolod

A MAN believed to be suffering from a mental illness was found dead on Reclamation Area, Barangay 10, Bacolod City Wednesday afternoon, June 24.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, chief of Police Station 2, said they are coordinating with the Barangay 10 officials to determine the identity of a man who had died due to an illness.

Investigation showed the victim, a homeless mentally challenged, 5'5" in height, was found lying beside the road by a traffic enforcer in the Reclamation Area around 12:30 p.m.

Gabana said the victim, who was suffering from epilepsy, used to stay in the area, but the residents failed to identify him.

He said there is a possibility that he is not a resident of Barangay 10 and

they are also coordinating with the Department of Social Service and Development (DSSD) to identify the victim.

Meanwhile, a 46-year-old man was injured after he was stabbed by his brother-in-law in Purok Tangigue, Barangay 1, Bacolod City Tuesday afternoon, June 23.

Police identified the victim as Jun Tinosa, of Barangay 1.

Gabana said the victim sustained wound on his chest after he was attacked by Radney Dela Cruz, 30, around 5 p.m.

He said Dela Cruz found out that Tinosa used to hurt his live-in partner so he attacked him using a knife.

The victim was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, while the suspect was arrested in follow-up operation in Barangay 1.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 2 and facing physical injury charges.
