MGCQ extended in Bacolod until Aug. 31

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has issued Executive Order No. 53 for the fifth extension of the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) in the City of Bacolod from August 15 to August 31, 2020.

Leonardia, who signed the EO on August 15, said the national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF)-Emerging Infectious Disease (EID) has issued Resolution No. 63 , Series of 2020, dated August 14, declaring, among others, that Bacolod City shall remain under MGCQ until August 31 with the strict mandate that the National Task Force and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) shall ensure the implementation of the localized actions.

He said in the morning of August 15, a televised announcement was made by Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque, that Bacolod shall be among the areas that shall remain under MGCQ until August 31.

“ City Government of Bacolod has always been in faithful compliance with the national policy in regard to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) public health emergency, acting consistently with the instructions and manner of observing public order, especially in safeguarding the health and welfare of its constituents,” he added.

The mayor noted that the continuity of the MGCQ requires that Bacolodnons shall have to adopt some necessary lifestyle changes because the said deadly disease is still a scourge to Bacolod City and the whole world.

Section 3 of the EO states that in the event of positive detection of Covid-19 which may spread and endanger the lives of the citizens in a specific house, street, neighborhood, barangay or locality or clusters of houses, streets, neighborhoods, barangays or localities, Executive Order No. 29 “ An order authorizing barangays to identify and seal off ultra risk areas under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) shall, likewise, remain effective during this fifth extension of the MGCQ for the safety and general welfare of the community.

Due to the recent and sudden spike in locally-transmitted Covid-19 infections, any person below 21-years old, those who are 60-years old and above, those with immunodeficiencies, comorbidities, and other health risks, regardless of age, pregnant women, and those who care for aforementioned persons are strongly reminded to stay in their residences at all times to reduce risks of getting infected or becoming a carrier of the coronavirus into their homes, the EO further stated.

The executive prerogative on non-social or curfew, which starts from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., is also implemented as well as the liquor ban, and Sunday closure of three major public markets in the city.
