More 'sacadas' arriving in Negros Occidental

MORE sugar migrant workers or "sacadas" from Antique are arriving in the province due to the ongoing milling season, Dr. Zeaphard Caelian, head of the Provincial Incident Management Team, said.

On Friday, October 16, he said more than 100 sacadas arrived at the Banago Port and were made to undergo reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing before they were allowed to go to their respective destinations.

Those who have arrived are still part of the 5,000 sacadas who will work at the different haciendas in the province.

Meanwhile, 145 locally stranded individuals also arrived in the province via 2Go Malasakit trip on Friday.

They were immediately swabbed and fetched by their respective local government units upon arrival, Caelian said.
