More than 5 contractors join bidding of 2 flagship projects

MORE than five contractors joined the bidding on Wednesday, February 27, of the development of Progreso Village Relocation Site and construction of roads and bridges in various areas in Bacolod City.

These were part of the city’s four flagship projects - the development of Progreso Village Relocation Site worth P350 million; Bacolod City College site development and facilities, P350 million; and construction of roads and bridges, P200 million; and development of Bacolod MassKara Coliseum worth P800 million.

City Assessor Maphilindo Polvora, chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee (Bac), said the bidding for the Bacolod City College site development and facilities is set on March 1.

There’s no schedule yet of bidding for the development of Bacolod MassKara Coliseum.

Polvora said they received more than five bid documents for the road and bridge project at Magsungay Pequin River, which includes drainage, bank protection, and flood control, in Barangay Vista Alegre with an Approved Budget for the Contract (ABC) of P14,999,996.86.

Also the rehabilitation of Mansilingan-Felisa Road with an ABC of P61,999,976.75; rehabilitation/widening of Sulum Bridge at CL Montelibano Drive, Barangay Villamonte, P7,056,168.65; widening/rehabilitation of Lacson Street, which includes bridge replacement, drainage, and flood control mitigation, P7 million.

After the evaluation of the bid documents, Polvora said they will make an official statement with Mayor Evelio Leonardia to announce the qualified bidders in said projects.

After the bidding, the Bac will proceed with the post-qualification. They will choose the lowest, calculated, and responsive bidder.

Polvora said there were some contractors who withdrew from the bidding, but he cannot divulge further details since the opening of the bid is still ongoing.

“After the bidding, we will announce the qualified bidders, we will make our official report,” he added. (MAP)
