DAR-AL-DHIKR Islamic Center president Imam Omar Betita lauded President Rodrigo Duterte for leading the country with an Islamic way of life.

This, he said during their observance of the Eid Al-Fitr, end of fasting or Shawwal.

The President's grandmother is a Muslim.

"He leads the country well. He did not discriminate against the Muslims and non-Muslims. He did not deny the Muslims of the government projects and resources," he said.

This group of Muslims with an Islamic center based in Barangay Mansilingan celebrated the end of the Ramadan on Friday.

Betita earlier said they will not celebrate it on Friday.

But the signs that they got from the full moon led them to celebrate the end of fasting on Friday which has been declared by Duterte as a non-working public holiday in the country.

A Muslim from Bangladesh MD Mustafa Sarwar also joined them in the celebration.

Members of the Bacolod City Police Office also attended the celebration and assured the Muslim community that the Local police is willing to help them in case they have concerns on peace and order.
