NegOcc, Bacolod to be placed under MGCQ; 2 more OFWs positive for virus

NEGROS Occidental and Bacolold City will be under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) effective May 16.

This after Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano made an announcement Wednesday, May 13, placing all areas that were earlier classified as “low risk” areas to MGCQ.

Ano said various local chief executives and governors filed petitions and requested that they are not yet ready to lift the community quarantine and that amendments by the national Inter-Agency Task Force are expected in their meeting last night.

Eight regions including Western Visayas were earlier placed under “low risk”.

Ano said the governors and local chief executives will have guidelines on how to implement the MGCQ that will empower them to contain the spread of the virus and avoid the possible second wave and third wave of the virus spread.

“There will be guidelines to follow,” he said.
