A DAY after the province slid to Alert Level 2 in terms of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) risk transmission, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) or rapid antigen test results are no longer required for inbound travelers starting February 16, 2022.

The travelers, however, they need to be fully vaccinated and they must be from areas that are under Alert Level 2 as well, Lacson said, adding that travelers will only need to present their vaccination cards.

The governor also said that they will further discuss the new travel protocols for travelers coming from Alert Level 3 areas.

He noted, however, that they are contemplating to require them vaccination cards, too.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Capitol Lagoon and Park will also be opened to everyone including minors though the date has yet to be announced.

The park was temporarily closed last January 7 for minors aged 12 years old and below when the province was placed under Alert Level 3.

Lacson also confirmed that the Covid-19 cases in the province have already dropped to double digits in a day and such a trend continues.

Some 1,112 children aged five to 11 year-old have been vaccinated during the first day of pediatric inoculation conducted at Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City on February 14, he reported.
