THE Provincial Government announced Monday evening, April 20, another confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) case in Negros Occidental.

This is the second confirmed positive case in Negros Occidental after a 41-year-old female from E.B. Magalona town had tested positive on March 28 but was later discharged after being cleared on her second and third swab test.

The new confirmed Covid-19 patient is a 43-year-old male resident of Barangay Nato, La Castellana and has a travel history in Iloilo.

Per Capitol data, the patient arrived in La Castellana on March 13 from Pavia, Iloilo and has been considered a person under monitoring (PUM). He went on home quarantine from March 13 until March 28 and felt no symptoms yet.

On April 5 to 6, symptoms appeared on the patient with fever and loose bowel movement (LBM) for two days.

On April 5, his employer in Iloilo was reported to have been tested positive of Covid-19 and that on April 8, he was informed about the condition of his employer.

The patient’s positive test result was released Monday after a swab sample was taken from him on April 12.

La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Manguilimutan said she issued an Executive Order placing Barangay Nato under an extreme community quarantine effective Monday, April 20.

All other barangays in the locality are still under extreme community quarantine.

This, after a 43-year-old male resident of the barangay turned positive of Covid-19. The result just came out Monday night.

Nicor-Manguilimutan said the patient, who is the second in Negros Occidental, and his family were already isolated since April 11.
