THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will conduct a mass testing of residents as part of its efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the province.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Tuesday, October 5, that they aim to test at least 7,500 Negrenses.

Lacson said the mass testing will be conducted after the filing of the certificates of candidacy (COCs) ends on October 8, 2021.

The governor added that he already sought the commitment of the local chief executives on this measure.

"We will not implement (it) without the cooperation of the local government unit (LGU). The shorter the time we finish it, the better," he said.

Provincial Capitol consultant and Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez said the mass testing aims to "identify those who are asymptomatic."

Benitez said they are hoping for a unified approach between the province and the Bacolod City Government for them to have a sharing of resources and information.
