No additional holiday flights for Negros Occidental

NEGROS Occidental will not allow additional flights to the province this December after 17 local government units have already asked for moratoriums on the arrival of locally stranded individuals (LSIs), Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz said.

The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF), as of December 12, 2020, has granted moratoriums on LSI arrivals to Ilog and Cauayan (December 20 to January 3), La Carlota City (December 22 to January 2), Pontevedra (December 22 – to January 5) Himamaylan, Victorias and Calatrava (December 21 to January 3), Bago City (November 26 to December 5), Sagay City (November 26 to December 10), Hinobaan (December 15 to 22) and La Castellana (December 22 to January 5).

The RIATF also granted a moratorium on LSI arrivals to the province on December 24, 25 31 and January 1.

Bacolod City was also granted a moratorium by the RIATF from December 21 to January 3.

The application for a moratorium will allow the city to rehabilitate its quarantine facilities and allow medical frontliners to have a break during the holidays.

Local government units with pending requests for moratoriums on the arrival of LSIs are the towns of Manapla, Candoni, Moises Padilla and Valladolid.

Diaz said airline companies are now worried that they may not have enough passengers with the moratoriums on returning LSIs.

There will be suspension of flights to Negros Occidental on December 24, 25, 31 and January 1.
