THE anti-cyber crime unit of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) has started monitoring social media posts for quarantine violators.
Nocppo Assistant Public Information Officer Police Lieutenant Wilma Silva said they will check the photos being posted online and they will immediately make an investigation whenever they spot someone violating the quarantine protocols, such as those hosting mass gatherings.
Even if the pictures are "throwbacks," Silva said they will still conduct an investigation.
The Nocppo official also said that those who are found violating quarantine protocols could be penalized.
"The hosting of mass gatherings is prohibited since there is an ongoing pandemic," she said.
She also advised the public to cooperate by forwarding information to the police should they know someone violating the quarantine protocols.
The move is in response to the order of Task Force Covid Shield head, Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, to all police commanders nationwide to regularly monitor social media to catch violators of community quarantine protocols.
