NPA supporters yield to army

SOME supporters of the New People’s Army (NPA) pledged loyalty to the Republic of the Philippines Monday, August 20, at the headquarters of the 79th Infantry Battalion (IB) of the Philippine Army in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

The troops from 79IB headed by Lieutenant Colonel Emelito Thaddeus Logan were able to identify some personalities who are supporters of NPAs during their stay in Barangays Junob-Junob and Tamlang, both in Escalante City.

After a series of dialogues and symposium, the supporters approached the troops and shared their knowledge about the recruitment scheme of the armed group. Some of them also admitted they were part of the organization. They also mentioned some legal fronts involved in the recruitment.

The 10 NPA supporters, who overthrow their support to the rebel group, realized the lies and deception of the group and saw no development since they were recruited.

Logan expressed his sincerest thanks to the people and ensures that their security will be handled.

Logan also stressed out about the discipline of the troops and compared it to the army way back then. He pledges that if any of his men commit violations, he will ensure there will be disciplinary actions. (PR)
