A 24-YEAR-OLD nurse from La Carlota City and Negros Occidental Scholarship Program grantee passed the second hardest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Nihongo Level 2 (N2) in Japan, recently.

She is XZ Cabalatungan and she went to Japan in 2016 as a student through the Office of the Governor.

She studied Basic Japanese Language Course at Ken Japanese Language Academy through the generosity of Dr. Minoru Irahara who sponsored her two-year scholarship.

She was allowed to work part-time as Health Care Assistant at Yukari Day Service Kogane hara, Irahara Inc., in Matsudo City and earned just enough money to support her siblings.

She is the breadwinner of the family, being the eldest among four siblings. She supports her brother who is still studying Instrumentation and Control Engineering at Rizal Technical University in Mandaluyong City and her other siblings.

She is currently working as a Japanese Language Instructor at the PNO-NNonescost, College of Nursing where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2014 while waiting for her Trainee Visa for caregiver in Japan.

She personally expressed her profound gratitude to Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. for giving her greatest opportunity to study and work in Japan. She said that being Nihongo Level 2 proficient is a gift that she will treasure throughout her lifetime.

Marañon congratulated Cabalatungan for her extraordinary achievements and for giving honor to the Province of Negros Occidental. He said that she is probably the only N2 passer from the province. (PR)
