"OCTOBER 19 is no longer a public holiday in Bacolod City.”
This was stressed by Mayor Evelio Leonardia after the new Charter Day of Bacolod City was officially moved to June 18.

“Our official Charter Day is now June 18 after President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law Republic Act (RA) 11146 last November 9, 2018,” Leonardia said.
He said this amended and rectified RA 7724, which previously recognized October 19 as the city’s Charter Day. Per historical records, October 19, 1938 was the day the city officials were inaugurated while June 18, 1938 was the exact date President Emmanuel Quezon signed into law Commonwealth Act 326 that created the City of Bacolod.
“June 18 is now the non-working public holiday in Bacolod City in observance of our Charter Day,” Leonardia added.
On June 13, 2017, Congressman Greg Gasataya had filed House Bill 7044, upon the request of Leonardia, to correct RA 7724 that erroneously set October 19 as the date for the celebration of the Charter Day of Bacolod City.
Gasataya earlier said the amended bill was filed after the discovery that the City’s Charter was actually signed by Quezon on June 18, 1938. October 19, on the other hand, was the inauguration of the first city officials, for which Quezon came to Bacolod, he added.
