BACOLOD City Councilor Bartolome Orola urged all village chiefs to conduct basic training and capability building for their respective barangay tanods (village watchmen) to boost the moral and sense of security of the local residents and business owners within their areas of jurisdiction.
Orola said the barangay tanod brigade plays an important role in the peace and order situation of the barangay, prevention of crime and the promotion of public safety.
He said residents who have these sense of security are more likely to participate in community activities that aims to improve the livelihood and well-being of all.
“There is a need to empower our local barangay tanods and to equip them with proper knowledge and training to be fully functional in the performance of their duties and responsibilities,” he added. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
