PROVINCIAL Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Thursday, August 26, that more than 15,000 doses of Sinovac vaccines were released to local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental.
Based on data released by Diaz, Kabankalan City received the highest number of Covid-19 vaccines with 1,766.
Diaz pointed out that Kabankalan received the highest share after noticing that their vaccination program has greatly improved with more and more of the city's residents now getting the vaccine.
Silay City follows with 1,577 doses received; Talisay City with 1,340; Sagay City with 1,200; Victorias City with 1,185; and Himamaylan with 1,000 doses.
Also receiving the CoronaVac jabs are the cities of Bago, San Carlos, Escalante, Sipalay, annd the towns of Binalbagan, Candoni, Calatrava, Cauayan, E.B. Magalona, Ilog, Manapla, Murcia, Pulupandan, Hinigaran, Pontevedra, and Hinoba-an
Diaz said part of the vaccines they released are those belonging to a shipment they received earlier this week, and they all left Bacolod City as early as around 5:30 a.m. yesterday in order for them to get distributed to the residents on time.
"We already started distribution since Wednesday, however, nagnubo ang [vaccine] utilization naton to around 64 percent," Diaz said.
The provincial administrator said they are closely monitoring the distribution performance among the LGUs, pointing out it will adjust the next batch of vaccines they will send out in the coming days.
Diaz also noted that the vaccination of the province's police force still continues, adding that the vaccination rate of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office is high.
He added that they have now administered more than 200,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, and with the new batch of vaccines they have received that number can now rise to around 340,000 in the following days.
Vaccinating those belonging to the A4 category or the frontline economic workers is now underway with priority being given to those working in the province's sugar and poultry industry.
"As long as they [the companies] request the LGU, pwede sila ka vaccinate, kung gusto nila sa province pwede man sila ka pa vaccinate," Diaz said.
