P224,000 shabu seized in Barangay Tangub

AN ESTIMATED P224,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in a drug-bust operation by operatives of Police Station 2 in Purok Otso, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City Monday, June 22, 2020.

The operation led to the arrest of Marlon Tanilon, 46; Lucil Antolo, 51; Prince Legaspi, 36; and John Patrick Arca, 35. All are residents of Barangay Tangub.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the suspects were arrested after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover at about 4:05 a.m.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession 19 sachets of shabu weighing 28 grams, the P500 marked money, P440 cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Pico said Tanilon and Antolo were identified as street-level targets in Bacolod City. They were under surveillance for almost a month before their arrest.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 2 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was arrested by personnel of Police Station 9 for possessing a sachet of suspected shabu in a checkpoint operation on Araneta Street, Purok Fiesta Homes, Barangay Sum-ag Monday morning.

Police identified the suspect as Celso Alvarez, of Purok Bayanihan 2, Barangay Punta Taytay.

Pico said the suspect was seen by policemen throwing away a small pouch beside the highway as he was approaching the checkpoint riding a motorcycle at about 6:15 a.m.

Policemen flagged him down and when they checked the pouch, it contained two sachets of shabu weighing 5.6 grams with an estimated market value of P49,000.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 9 and facing charges for violation of RA 9165.
