P25,000 bounty on Escalante jail escapee

A REWARD of P25,000 awaits for the arrest of an inmate of the Escalante City Jail who had reportedly escaped last Thursday.

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator, Jail Supt. Larry Fuentes identified the inmate as Perlito Sico, who is serving time for three separate cases of illegal drugs charges, and illegal possession of firearms charge.

Sico also has a pending case for violating the Comelec imposed gun ban.

Fuentes said based on investigation carried out by BJMP-Escalante, Sico managed to escape by climbing two perimeter fences and after which made a dash for the nearby sugarcane field.

One of the jail guards, Jail Officer 1 Rodney Cobrado spotted Sico and fired several warning shots but the inmate refused to stop and he eventually escaped.

Fuentes added the incident at around 7:29 p.m.

The BJMP in coordination with local police have since deployed their tracker teams in order to recapture Sico.

A reward of P25,000 was setup to whosoever can point the escaped inmate's whereabouts.
