P3-M Covid-19 testing center in Silay pushed

THE Minority Bloc in Congress is pushing for a P3-million funding for the Covid-19 testing center at Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

Abang Lingkod Partylist Representative Stephen Paduano, who is also assistant Minority leader at the House of Representatives, bared this to SunStar Bacolod.

Paduano said the P3 million is part of the salaries of congressmen for the month of May that they donated for the Covid-19 funds.

"All of us Negros congressmen donated our salaries for the month of May," Paduano said.

During the minority bloc meeting Thursday last week, it was also agreed that another P5 million will be donated for a Children's Hospital in Quezon City.

They are waiting for the approval of the Speaker of the House on the matter.

The P3 million, Paduano said, will be used to acquire additional PCR machines for the hospital to fast track the turn-over of results from the swab specimen taken from Covid- 19 patients.

Some medical technologists who will be assigned at the laboratory have already completed the training for the Covid-19 testing laboratory.

But Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Monday, May 11, that they are still looking for the supplier of PCR testing machines after the first supplier failed to deliver last week.
