NEGROS Occidental Provincial Health Officer Ernell Tumimbang said Tuesday, November 6, that massive house to house visit and immunization on measles-rubella and oral polio supplemental immunization is now being conducted in the province.
Tumimbang said that the immunization is free for children from six months old to 59 months old.
"We would like to encourage the parents to have their children vaccinated for good health and avoid being sick in the future," Tumimbang said.
He said they target to reach 95 percent of that certain age group in the province to avoid any outbreak.
While Negros Occidental has no record of cases of measles in 2017, there are already 33 confirmed laboratory cases in 2018 and that Western Visayas has the highest number of cases with 119 compared to only one case last year. (TDE)
