Pick-up truck collides with police vehicle; 1 hurt

A MAN sustained a minor injury after his pick-up truck allegedly collided with a sports utility vehicle (SUV) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City on Friday, January 24.

Police Officer 3 Eliseo Andraneda, traffic investigator of Police Station 3, said the pick-up truck driven by Teddy Dipol, 56, of Victorias City, was on its way home when it reportedly hit the SUV driven by Police Officer 2 Sonny Opsimar at 10:40 p.m.

Dipol’s wife, who was also onboard the truck, was not hurt.

The patrol vehicle was boarded by Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, officer-in-charge of BCPO, who was seated at the back passenger seat, and two other police officers. All of them were unharmed.

Andraneda said the pick-up truck fell on its side as it was reportedly speeding when the accident happened.

Biñas even helped the driver and his wife get out of the vehicle, he added.

Both vehicles incurred damages.

Biñas came from checkpoint inspection when it happened.

He said they will also check footage of the closed-circuit television camera installed in nearby establishments to determine who is at fault. (GYM)
