PNP-Western Visayas Covid-19 cases surge

THE number of Covid-19 cases involving police personnel and civilian employees in Western Visayas surge to 183 as of June 27, a report of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Health Service said.

While the PNP Health Service reported 14 new cases on June 27, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), however, had zero new cases.

Nocppo, however, ranked third among key police units, under the supervision of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas, and its National Support Units, with having the most number of active cases at 28, while BCPO got the lowest number of active cases, at four, the report also said.

Of the 896 total cases, the PNP Health Service reported that 711 of the infected police personnel have already recovered, while there are still 183 active cases, with two deaths.

While there were 14 new cases, it also reported four recoveries at Guimaras, Aklan, Iloilo and Antique Police Provincial Offices, respectively.

Of the new cases, seven of the infected police personnel are assigned at the Antique Police Provincial Office, four others at the National Support Units, two at the Capiz Police Provincial Office, and one at the Regional Police Office headquarters in Iloilo. (TDE)
