Police eye illegal drugs as motive in brutal slay of sugarcane farm worker

The Bacolod City Police Station 2 is eyeing illegal drugs as a possible motive in the brutal killing of a sugarcane farm worker whose body was discovered at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, on Wednesday, September 13.

Police identified the victim as Marlon Illustrisimo, 32, a resident of Hacienda Parnaso, Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.

Captain Glenn Montaño, commander of Police Station 2, said Friday, September 15, the victim was identified by his parents on Thursday, September 14, at Abe Funeral Homes.

He said the victim, a sugarcane farm worker in La Carlota City, failed to go home since Tuesday, September 12.

He added that the parents of the victim were only informed by their relative in Bacolod City that there was an unidentified man found dead at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2.

Montaño said that Illustrisimo's parents went to Police Station 2 to check on the body of the victim.

He said that before the incident, the victim's parents had already noticed his unusual behavior.

They told the police that the victim engaged in illegal drug activity, he claimed.

Montaño said they will coordinate with the La Carlota City Police Station to check the background of the victim.

On Wednesday, September 13, Illustrisimo was found lying face down with several stab wounds by a concerned citizen, and the residents near Purok Lampirong could not identify him.

Montaño said Illustrisimo, who has two children, was separated from his wife, who was working in Manila.

He said there’s a possibility that the victim was killed in another area and dumped his body at Purok Lampirong on Tuesday night.*
