Police to file raps vs suspect in rape-slay of 6-year-old girl

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) is now preparing the rape with homicide charges to be filed on Monday, October 19, 2020, against a construction worker who allegedly raped and killed a six-year-old girl in a canal in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City on October 15.

Police Lieutenant Arlyn Torrendon, head of WCPD, said Sunday they are now preparing all the documents to file the charges against the 24-year-old suspect, who was also a neighbor of the victim.

She said the body of the victim was found by the mother of the suspect in a canal in Barangay Estefania around 10 p.m. of October 15 after she was reported missing.

Investigation showed that before the incident, the victim attended a birthday party near their house and the suspect was also in the area. The suspect was seen holding the victim.

Torrendon said after the party, the mother of the victim discovered that one of her children was missing and their neighbors, including the mother of the suspect, helped them find her.

She said when they found the body of the victim, the suspect voluntarily surfaced and went to investigators in the area for his safety because he was the last person who was seen with the victim.

The suspect, who is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 4, admitted to police that he committed the crime and was under the influence of the intoxicating liquor when he raped and killed the victim.

He also asked for forgiveness from the victim’s family and is ready to face charges to be filed against him.
