Power Watch to lead covenant signing supporting Ceneco JVA

POWER Watch and other multi-sectoral groups will hold a covenant signing to declare their full support to the proposed joint venture agreement between More Power Corporation and Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).

Labor Leader Wennie Sancho, who also leads Power Watch, said the activity will be a public declaration of support for the JVA, which "we see as a necessity already with the current power situation with Ceneco. Ailing and sickening that is now the real situation with Ceneco that's why it's already unbearable for the consumers.

"We will voluntarily, on our own, help the educational campaign and this is our pre-referendum activities," Sancho said, referring to the referendum which will be held to get the consumers' approval of the JVA, he added.

Up to this time, unscheduled brownouts have been happening but Ceneco has confirmed that another power rate hike is expected in the coming days, he said.

Sancho also said that More Power has invited them to visit their sub-stations and office so they can observe how their operation goes.

"To see is to believe. That's why we encourage our members to come with us," Sancho said.
