A SELF-PROCLAIMED psychic and visionary from La Carlota City is challenging incumbent Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson in the coming May 2022 elections after filing her certificate of candidacy (COC) Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

Ma. Socorro Okada Sibulan said Mother Mary appeared to her and urged her to run “because the world is so polluted already.”

Okada said she does not know who Lacson is, and that she took a double tire going to Bacolod City to file her candidacy.

Sibulan is married to a Japanese man and has stayed in Japan for 20 years.

Meanwhile, Sagay City Mayor Alfredo "Thirdy" Marañon III also filed his candidacy for congressman of the Second District.

He was accompanied by incumbent Vice Mayor Narwin Javelo, who will be running as mayor of Sagay, and Congressman Leo Rafael Cueva, who is running for vice mayor of the city.

Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante also accompanied Marañon.

Reelectionist Sixth District Board Member Valentino Miguel also filed his candidacy at the Provincial Capitol’ Social Hall where the Provincial Comelec temporarily holds office Wednesday.

The same with Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol, also a reelectionist, and his wife, Mary Ann, who is his vice mayoralty candidate.
