THE City Government of Bacolod will resume the raffle of the stalls at the Libertad Public Market Annex Building on March 7, Councilor Celia Matea Flor said Tuesday, February 28.

Flor, chairperson of the City Council committee on markets, said the Local Market Committee (LMC) is still finalizing and validating the master list of the market vendors.

She said several vendors earlier claimed that they were allegedly not included in the master list, so they need to validate the list to determine those who are actively doing business in the area.

She added that the raffle of the stalls will include the vegetable section among others.

Flor noted that they had already directed the market heads to submit the master list and review the names of the vendors.

On February 20, the LMC raffled 27 stalls for the fruit vendors, and about seven vendors were not accommodated at the Libertad Public Market Annex Building.

Flor said the stalls are not enough for the vendors, so they need to raffle the stalls so that it will be fair for everybody.

"Not all vendors will be accommodated, so we are also thinking of transferring all the fruit vendors to the second floor of the building," she said.

However, she added that the stalls were already raffled for the fruit vendors, so they would find ways to solve the problem.

The city councilor said that she will check with the City Mayor’s Office on how they can assist those vendors who will be displaced at the Libertad Public Market Annex Building.

Aside from the Libertad Public Market, Flor said the LMC will also raffle off the stalls for the vendors at Burgos Public Market and Central Public Market.*
