‘Rebel supporter’ nabbed for guns

AN ALLEGED supporter of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Barangay Santol, Binalbagan on March 6.

Police identified the suspect as Sanny Tagarao, 56, resident of the same place and member of the National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW).

Based on a report, the Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company went to Tagarao’s home in order to implement a search warrant issued by Binalbagan Municipal Judge Leticia Trigue for violating RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

According to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), they have been receiving intelligence reports that members of the NPA are frequently seen visiting Tagarao’s home, and they believe he may have helped the insurgents in planning to carry out attacks.

A search of the suspect’s home yielded two .38 caliber revolvers, with seven live .38 caliber bullets.

Charges for illegal possession of firearms will be filed against the suspect who is now detained at the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station. (TDE)
