A PHILIPPINE saltwater crocodile was rescued Thursday at Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City.

The crocodile was measured six feet and weighs 30 kilos, a press release from Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro) said.

A group of construction workers found the wandering crocodile at their vicinity. They were able to capture it two hours later.

The four construction workers, namely Wilfredo Dela Cruz, Richard Lomugdang, Marlon Lomugdang and John Rey Limco turned over the said precarious wildlife to the barangay hall. It was later endorsed to City Environment and Natural Resources Office in Bago City.

The rescued crocodile was allegedly owned by Stephen Caldemon, a resident of Villa Estefania in the said barangay, Penro said.

Mr. Caldemon claimed that he bought the wildlife in 2015 from a Registered Wildlife Certificate Holder.

Presently, the saltwater crocodile is being observed and rehabilitated at Cenro Bago City–Rescue Center.

Further, Cenro–Bago City will conduct a thorough investigation on the matter. (PR)
