A SECURITY guard was injured after he was shot by his two co-workers who were working as welders at Bulata Pier in Barangay Bulata, Cauayan town in Negros Occidental on June 6.

Police identified the victim as Alfie Balo, 28, of Barangay Inayawan.

Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, town police chief, said suspects Jose Sanchez Sr., 47, and Jovel Daniega, 25, were having a drinking session when they approached Balo.

Sanchez then fired at him using a 357 caliber.

Balo tried to grab Sanchez's firearm but Daniega took the victim's 12-gauge shotgun and shot him, hitting his back twice.

Balo was brought to a hospital.

Both suspects fled but were later arrested through the help of the barangay officials.

Police failed to recover the .357 caliber.

Resuma said the suspects committed the crime due to grudge as Balo would usually tell them to use their safety gears but both suspects do not follow the protocol.

Both suspects are detained at the police station and will be facing frustrated homicide charges.
