A 27-YEAR-OLD man who tried to avoid quarantine checkpoint was injured after he was shot by a security guard fronting K-Mart, Barangay 22, Bacolod City Sunday morning, April 19.

Police identified the victim as Epraim Anhao, of Purok Angeles, Barangay Estefania.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the victim sustained wounds on his left shoulder and left lower back after he was shot by Leo Pagayonan, 34, security guard of JRY Security Agency and is deployed at K-Mart Store, around 9:15 a.m.

Pico said the victim was running in front of K-Mart Store towards east direction when he was shot by the security guard.

The victim was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) while the suspect voluntarily surrendered to Police Station 4.

Investigation showed that Anhao along with three other persons were seen roaming along Barangay 22 despite of the strict implementation of enhanced community quarantine where all home quarantine pass (HQP) were not honored on Sundays.

When policemen were about to approach them, Anhao and the three other persons ran away. They were chased by the barangay tanods along with Barangay 22 Captain Diosdado Mayo.

Anhao tried to enter K-Mart Store, but he was stopped and shot by the security guard while the three other persons escaped.

Police Station 4 is still conducting further investigation to check the background of the victim while Pagayonan is detained at the custodial facility of the station.
