AROUND 83 sacks of trash composed of mostly single-use plastics, water bottle containers, diapers, sachets and styrofoam were collected during the clean-up activity conducted along the coastlines near Bredco Port, Bacolod City as part of the World Ocean Day celebration.

The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office led by Joan Nathaniel Gerangaya, represented by TSD Chief Catherine Balasa and OIC-MSD Chief Rosario Rostata, in collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary of Bacolod City headed by Director Auxiliary Squadron Commodore Dannyl Yap, Bredco staff and Penro Negros Occidental personnel.

The theme of World Ocean Day 2023 was "Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing," enjoining everyone to put the ocean first. (PR)
