WITH tourism recovery efforts still ongoing after the devastation brought by Typhoon Odette, the City Government of Sipalay is set for their 2nd Skim, Surf, and Frisbee Fest starting tomorrow, July 29.

The local government in collaboration with the City Locals Steelwolves Skimboarding, City adDISC Ultimate, Panaon Surf Camp, City Tourism Development and Promotion Office, and City Sports Office is expecting around 250 sports enthusiasts for the three-day festival.

The organizers said that the participants will come from various places in the Negros Island, Davao, Leyte, Siquijor, Cebu, and Iloilo.

Jerick Lacson, city tourism officer, said the activity will strengthen sports tourism as one of the unique selling points of the city as a tourist destination and to bring in more tourists and stimulate local economy, especially during low season.

“The fest is positioned to support the ongoing tourism recovery efforts of the local government through sports tourism events and provide a venue for the locals to showcase their talents in skimboarding, surfing, and frisbee,” he said.
