THE highly-anticipated kiddie culinary competition is back with its 2018 edition.
The Bacolod Young Chef Master, initiated by SM City Bacolod, is now open for registration up until September 19.
Highlighting the province as the sugarlandia of the country, this competition will be a confectionary showdown among junior chefs. Auditions will be held at the main atrium, north wing of SM City Bacolod on September 23.
Now on its 8th year, the Bacolod Young Chef Master has provided an avenue for the young to learn and build their confidence by showing off their skills in the kitchen.
Nep Grandea, SM City Bacolod’s marketing manager said, “through this competition, we have been able to encourage tweens and teenagers to pursue their hobbies and even develop a deeper love for cooking and baking.”
The competition has attracted a large following, not only from young chefs and their families but the Bacolod crowd in general.
Mallgoers enjoy watching the skills of these chefs unfold before them and even cheer them on. The competition has also been supported by established chefs of Bacolod and Negros Occidental in the likes of Chefs BJ Uy, Jan Cris Chua, George Gorriceta, among others.
The competition has also been supported by organizations such as the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Negros Occidental and the Bacolod Academy for Culinary Arts and the USLS Institute for Culinary Arts.
The competition is open to aspiring child chefs, 10 to 15 years old, who have the passion and desire for cooking.
Aside from creating confectionary goodies, enticing prizes and SM shopping money are at stake. Registration forms are available at the SM mall administration office.
