THE Local School Board of the Sagay City Government and Sagay Water District donated 26 smart television sets to eight schools to address the need to digitalize the mode of learning in the city.

A signing of the deed of donation and turnover of TV sets were held at the DepEd Sagay Division Office in Brgy. Rizal led by Mayor Narciso Javelosa, Division Superintendent Marsette Sabbaluca, and SWD General Manager Manfred Fuentesfina on July 14.

This is the first batch of donations from the city government to support the K to Tech project of DepEd-Sagay which aims to provide Smart TVs in all school classrooms within the city.

Among the schools that received Smart TVs were Jose B. Puey Sr. Elementary School, Alfredo E. Marañon Elementary School- School of Future, Buenaventura Rodriguez Elementary School, Sir Arthur Cooper Elementary School, Josebio Gonzaga Elementary School, Bato Elementary School, Macamilco Elementary School, and R. Tupas-SESCO Extension.

Based on the records from DepEd-Sagay, of the 1,261 classrooms 610 do not have a smart TV.

With this, Mayor Javelosa assured to help in bringing in more TV sets in the classrooms of every Sagay school as “teaching has become vital to our education in the present times”.

“Schools became the best training field for digitalization as they embrace the pattern for our young students into becoming professionals,” he said.

SWD Manager also said education is really vital, especially with the widespread of misinformation online and one way to fight it is to give teachers more tools in teaching the children.

The mayor also challenged the recipients of the first batch of TV donations to put extra effort to upgrade knowledge and skills in teaching the learners in order for them to rise and flow with the new trend in education which is digital learning.

In her message to the donors, Jose B. Puey ES Principal Elizabeth Adraneda said they accept the challenge of the mayor and assured that this will help in aiding the need to upgrade the way of learning in their school.

Sabbaluca also said that DepEd-Sagay is grateful for this partnership with the local government unit and she hopes that these smart TVs will address the need to digitalize the mode of teaching in every Sagay school. (PR)
