THIS year’s theme for the Ocean Month, “Stand up, save our reefs,” strongly emphasized the cause and effect relationship of the citizens’ actions towards the marine environment and ecosystem.

Environmentalists and advocates are making a stand on conserving and protecting the reefs which provide a home for all the fishes.

On May 25, personnel of Provincial Environment and Natural Resources-Negros Occidental spearheaded the simultaneous mangrove planting and coastal clean-up activity at Barangay Nauhang and Langub Beach at Sipalay City.

Around 300 mangrove seedlings were planted after the talk conducted by the Conservation Development Section regarding the importance of the oceans. (PR)
