Strict hygiene, sanitation pushed in Bacolod City

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting Mayor Evelio Leonardia to create a task force that will monitor strict hygiene and sanitation standards with emphasis on toilets and washrooms of all food establishments within the city.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Bartolome Orola, stated that the health of the people, being of paramount importance, all efforts of public services should be directed toward the protection and promotion of health.

Orola said that due to numerous concerns of unsanitary and unhealthy conditions of various toilets/washrooms within the city, there is a need to create a task force that will specifically monitor the said facilities.

“Considering the numerous numbers of food establishments that need to be inspected, and in order to fully implement the Sanitation Code of the Philippines, there is a need to augment the task force with other agencies as members and for them to collaborate their efforts in maintaining the hygiene and sanitation standards that are required by law,” he said.

Since Bacolod City is promoting itself as choice destination of national and international Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, and tourism destination for both local and international tourist, there is a need to see to it that the amenities being offered by the various establishments of Bacolod is up to the standards of sanitation, he added.
