Supplier to deliver new sewer jet on Monday, October 29

THE City Government of Bacolod purchased a new sewer jet for the clearing of all drainage in the city.

Executive assistant Jose Maria Vargas, cluster head for City Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), said yesterday the supplier will deliver the new sewer jet worth P21-million on Monday.

“After it will be delivered, the supplier will conduct a training to the DRRMO personnel for the familiarization of the new equipment,” he said.

He added the new sewer jet is a big help to the city because the CDRRMO has only one sewer jet that has malfunctioned.

Vargas noted they will also rehabilitate the old sewer jet so they can use it for the drainage clearing operations in the areas of Libertad Public Market and other big public markets.

"We are happy to have a new sewer jet because we are using the old one for almost five years already," Vargas said.

He said they start to operate in November and they will prioritize the major roads, both local and national roads.

The CDRRMO along with the City Planning and Development Office is setting up a community-based monitoring system in various villages to identify the flood-prone areas. (MAP)
