A PORTION of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) was damaged after it moved forward before the ramp of a roll-on roll-off (roro) vessel reached the end of the port in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Tuesday, August 14.
Lieutenant Commander Lodovico Librilla, head of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Negros Occidental, said the vehicle was on board an MV Lite Ferry 3 from Toledo, Cebu province when it docked at San Carlos port around 12:10 p.m.
Librilla said Vanessa Barbadillo-Chan already started the engine, as she was waiting for the ramp to reach the other end, when she was told by a crew to move backward.
However, she lost control of the vehicle and it moved forward due to the strong waves that hit the vessel. This cause the vehicle to slightly fall on the water. The female driver was unharmed.
Librilla said the car was immediately lifted through a backhoe. It damaged the bumper of the vehicle.
He also said that the shipping line already signified to shoulder the expenses to fix the car. (GYM)
